The Carnival Ecstasy

From Past Cruises

My second cruise was on the Carnival Ecstasy in November of 2006, Thanksgiving Day actually. It was the same itinerary as my first cruise:
Thursday: Embark in Galveston
Friday: Sea Day
Saturday: Cozumel
Sunday: Sea Day
Monday: Disembark in Galveston
This cruise was also with my friend the Sharps, along with Phyllis’ sister, Linda and her family, the Hegmans.
The full roster was:
George & Phyllis Sharp
Chris & Meredith Sharp
Mark & Linda Hegman, their daughter Heidi
Mikey and Leslie Sproat (Mark and Linda’s daughter)
Me
My family agreed to have Thanksgiving breakfast with me, we all met at my brother, Brad’s house. After breakfast I headed over to The Sharps to ride with them to Galveston. George, Phyllis, and I shared a cabin/stateroom, Chris, Meredith, Mikey, Leslie shared a cabin, and Mark, Linda, and Heidi were in a cabin.
I used to have more pictures from this cruise but before I started backing everything up, a hard drive went down, and the ones you see here are mainly pictures of hard copies.
I remember that it was fun to cruise with a big group; we had a big table in the middle of the dining room. Leaving my family early on Thanksgiving Day was very different, but it was a good time. I remember thinking at the time that I probably wouldn’t ever do a holiday cruise again unless I was with my family. That was almost 8 years ago, after losing Mom this past March, obviously a lot has changed, I would consider going on a holiday cruise depending on what the rest of my family’s plans are. The one thing about that cruise though is it was a full ship, full of kids. I like kids just fine, but it was like being at Chuck E Cheese with a YMCA field trip, all weekend long!
Thinking back on it eight years later it’s hard to provide the detail I have on the last few trips as I hadn’t started jotting down trip notes yet (I think the first trip I did that on was the trip to San Francisco in 2008).

Family Fued Medal
I did “win” a participation medal for being in the Ship Feud, which was the Family Feud game, two teams made up of passengers from different cabins.

My pretty lady friend, a Showgirl who I just met for this picture. Yes, I have to pay for pictures with pretty ladies.
A tradition I tried to keep up, but they don’t seem to do these pictures anymore per my last three cruises

Chris and I were in a Lido Deck contest where you started at the top of a water slide, beat on your chest like Tarzan, slid down the slide and dove for rings in the pool. Ms. Phyllis (Chris’ mom) bought this pic that was taken right before the contest.
