Recently I’ve started taking an interest in poetry. Not sure why, maybe it’s the million dollar song lyrics I come up with on the way home from work every day. “This will be the greatest song ever! All I need now are music composition skills to put with my killer lyrics. Guess I should have bought that “Music composition for Dummies” after all.”
People ask me how the weight loss is going, honestly I’m not sure right now. My scales fluctuate 30-40 pounds between weighing within five minutes of each other. I’ve done pretty good keeping my exercise up. I’m riding the bike for at least an hour five times a week. Even on scorching days when I don’t feel like it. Not feeling like it is usually all mental. You start letting yourself not feel like exercising, and eventually you stop all together. However, I haven’t been as diligent with my eating habits as I should be. Though I am acquiring a taste for the weight watchers dinners, the lasagna one is really good actually. Actually most of the ones I’ve had are pretty good. None the less I need to break down and buy a good pair of scales again so I know exactly where I am, and stick to healthier eating habits of course. Apple fritters do have some fruit in them, right?
Taylor Swift
I haven’t made up my mind about her yet, musically speaking. I don’t want to be a music snob, but I really don’t relate to her music. Yet I do respect her for writing songs and playing an instrument. Yet again, the music I’ve heard of hers is not really an enjoyable listening experience for me. I’m messed up in a lot of ways, but I would really be messed up if I enjoyed music that a lot of 12 year old girls like. Anyway, I’ve heard one of her songs lately talking about listening to a guy talk on the phone to his girlfriend, and how the girlfriend wears short skirts and she (Taylor) wears t-shirts. Funny thing, every picture I’ve ever seen of her, she’s wearing a short skirt. In fact I just did a Google search for Taylor Swift images and on the first page out of eighteen pictures she is wearing a t-shirt in exactly none of them. I know singers sing songs all the time that don’t reflect their actual lifestyle. Maybe as she gets more seasoned I won’t take the songs she sings literally, but that also means she’ll have to stop writing songs about high school.
Twenty-Eight Years in banking guy
Ok, I said I wouldn’t write anymore about work, well this isn’t really anything about “the man”. Twenty-Eight Years in banking guy was “laid off” several months ago. I guess in a moment of direst I gave him my phone number before his exit. Well he called me on Sunday and for thirty minutes I endured a lecture about age discrimination and how I should be trying to get out of the lair while I can. While I can see his side, thirty minutes of it is a bit much. And he is almost 30 years older than me, so while I know the economy is not great. Hopefully employers aren’t discriminating against people in their 30’s. They have seemed to be discriminating against me personally for the last nine years and eleven days as I’ve been looking to change industries for that long. I just chalk it up the same way I chalk up my love life. It’s just me…
Maybe Twenty-Eight Years in banking guy in should do the same.
Speaking of Love
I think I’m done with the Bachelor and the Bachelorette. I’m watching it as I type this, but I can’t take anymore of these women and men who expect someone to compete against 20 plus other suitors. Then the bachelor or bachelorette expects multiple people to profess their undying love though they don’t have to do the same. It’s my better deal theory. Most women and men are always looking for a better deal. They just content themselves with the person they are with until a better deal comes along. I don’t think I can rot anymore of my brain with this kind of farce being televised. The end of this season is like the last scene from “There’s something about Mary”. Everyone is in love with Mary. It is bad enough that you have to hear about the better deals in real life. Happy hunting everyone, may you find the mate with movie star looks, lots of money, and a freaking rose garden to top it off?
No I am not cynical at all, what makes you think that?
Favorite quote at the moment:
“Wars do not make men great, but they do bring out the greatness in good men.”
-Maj. Dick Winters, Beyond Band of Brothers
Favorite lyrics at the moment: Roll me away, by Bob Seger
Stood alone on a mountain top,
Starin out at the great divide
I could go east, I could go west,
It was all up to me to decide
Just then I saw a young hawk flyin
And my soul began to rise
Indulge me with one last Aerosmith reference for a while. They did not play this at the show I was at, but I really like the song.
